Stanhope Old Hall is a Grade II* listed manor house, built in the 16th and 17th centuries around older stone and said to have been a hunting lodge for the Bishops of Durham. It sits in Stanhope, on the coast-to-coast cycle route. Inside there is oak panelling, a great stone fireplace, and a kitchen where everything is made from scratch.
Stay the night, come for afternoon tea by the fire, or sit down to Sunday lunch. We only ever seat sixteen, so every plate that leaves the kitchen gets the time it deserves.
